Teaching a young girl how to throw an atl atl

We at the Center for Experimental Archaeology are focused on adhering to and promoting ethical, scientific, and experimental principles instilled in us by our teachers, mentors, and founders of the experimental archaeological approach.  We believe that a basic understanding of primitive technology is crucial to a better comprehension of prehistoric life.  Furthermore, experimental archaeology should be implemented as a part of any archaeological research plan utilizing a holistic approach.   We also fully believe that an appreciation for prehistoric life should not be solely restricted to the professional archaeological community.  Therefore, we also work hard to educate the general public through our various classes, by working with museums and historical societies to replicate material culture and through public workshops and demonstrations.

Our Mission:

Our mission is to explore variation in the technological problem-solving strategies of the past, manifested in the archaeological record, through an ethical and holistic approach to experimental archaeology.
